DLLA145P639 Nozzle Pressure Testing Standard Procedure
Pre – test Preparations
- Park the vehicle in a safe location, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Pull up the handbrake.
- Prepare tools such as a fuel pressure gauge, adapter fittings, wrenches, and diagnostic instruments. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Release the fuel system pressure by starting the engine until it stalls.
Connecting the Fuel Pressure Gauge
- Locate the Test Port: Find the fuel system pressure test port, which is usually near the fuel rail. If there is no test port, connect to the fuel inlet pipe.
- Make the Connection: Firmly connect the pressure gauge to the test port or fuel inlet pipe using the adapter fitting. Place a towel or similar item underneath to prevent fuel leakage.
Pressure Testing
- Static Oil Pressure: Without starting the engine, connect the terminals of the diagnostic connector. Turn on the ignition switch to make the fuel pump operate. Read the value on the pressure gauge. Generally, it is about 300 kPa.
- Idle Oil Pressure: Reset the fuel pump fuse, etc. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Start the engine and let it run at idle. Read the oil pressure, which is generally between 200 – 350 kPa.
- Maximum Oil Pressure: While the engine is running, clamp the return fuel pipe with pliers. Read the value on the pressure gauge at this time. Generally, it is 2 to 3 times the normal oil pressure.
- Residual Oil Pressure: Stop the engine. Observe the pressure on the pressure gauge 10 minutes later. For multi – point injection, it should be no less than 200 kPa, and for single – point injection, it should be no less than 50 kPa.
